In this challenge we will look at the MQTT bruteforcing.  Please start the lab and answer the following questions:

Questions

  1. Is target server using authentication?
  2. Find out the password for user “admin”?
  3. There is another user present on the system, find out the name of the user and his password. Use user dictionary: /usr/share/wordlists/metasploit/unix_users.txt
  4. How many active topics are already configured on the server which admin user can subscribe to?
  5. On which topic the other user has only read only privilege?
  6. On which topic the other user has only write only privilege?
  7. Can user admin create a new topic ?
  8. Can other user create a new topic ?

Instructions: 

  • This lab is dedicated to you! No other users are on this network :) 
  • Once you start the lab, you will have access to a root terminal of a Kali instance
  • Your Kali has an interface with IP address 192.X.Y.Z. Run "ip addr" to know the values of X and Y.
  • The Target machine should be located at the IP address 192.X.Y.3. 
  • Do not attack the gateway located at IP address 192.X.Y.1 


Verify:
1. Find out the password for user `admin`?
 
2. On which topic the other user has only read-only privilege?
