You will be provided with osquery shell on the machine. You have to run appropriate queries and answer the following questions:

  1. How many non-system and non-root users are present on the system?
  2. Which user is not using the bash shell?
  3. Where is the history file for user "John" located? Provide the absolute path of the directory (also add the last /).
  4. A sensitive file was edited by the root user. What is the name of that file? Provide the full path.
  5. Which user has installed a possible backdoor?
  6. Where is this backdoor kept on the local machine? Provide only the name of the directory.
  7. A suspicious program is installed on the system by a sudoer user. Where was this program hosted online? Provide the full URL.
  8. A specific user logs into this machine every day at the same time. Which user is that? provide username.
  9. On what time the user logs into the system? Provide time in HH:MM:SS GMT format.
  10. One of the users tried to guess the password for another user. What is the name of that user?
  11. One of the users also has another machine on another private network. What is the IP of that machine?
  12. Retrieve the hidden flag.

  • Please don't use Ctrl+C as that will shut down the osquery shell. If you use it by mistake, it is recommended to restart the lab.
