Lab Walkthrough Video:

You are employed with ABC99 Inc., a private company which provides penetration testing and auditing services to other organisations. You are sent to do a penetration test at XYZ66 Inc. which is into the stock trading business. They suspect that somehow private information is being leaked from their network. XYZ66 Inc. is a cash rich company and they have invested heavily in their borderline network security by deploying state of the art firewalls, UTMs which have advanced capabilities like DPI (Deep Packet Inspection). Also, they are confident that their is no insider threat or leak in physical security. You suspect that this is work of a backdoor which is not sending data through company's main internet link but by using some other media. They don't use WiFi networks but they have a functional WIDS (Wireless Intrusion Detection System) which always captures the WiFi traffic of the vicinity.

Questions

  1. How is information is getting leaked out the network?

  2. Can you tell something about the attacker or attacker machine?

  3. What information has been exchanged with the attacker?

Here is your first hint

Read about WiFi backdoors

Ok fine! may be its a little difficult.

Which packets or frames are not used to transfer data traffic?

Still don't get it? Take this last hint then
